The Gift from the Tide
In the coastal village of Ternwhale, Lyra lived in a lighthouse with her father, who kept the sea lights burning for ships. She loved the ocean’s voice — crashing waves, calling gulls, distant whispers. One morning after a storm, she found a shimmering seashell on the shore, warm to the touch and humming with strange music.
When she held it to her ear, she didn’t just hear the sea — she heard singing, soft and ancient.
Her father grew quiet when he saw it. “That,” he whispered, “belonged to the Sea King. And if it sings again, the ocean will stir.”
The Waters Turn Wild
That night, the tides rose too high, and wind howled like voices. Villagers grew afraid. The sea was angry.
Lyra returned to the shell. The song inside grew louder, words forming — a lullaby calling her to the Blue Hollow, an underwater cavern lost to legend. With the help of Kelpie, a dolphin who could shape water, Lyra dove beneath the waves, the shell guiding her path.
The Sleeping Sea King
In Blue Hollow, Lyra found the Sea King — vast, coral-crowned, and asleep within a throne of shells. His dreams had spilled into the sea, stirring storms and waves. Only the right song could soothe his sorrow.
Lyra sang with the seashell, blending its notes with her voice. The water calmed. The Sea King opened his eyes — not angry, but mournful. With a sigh, he returned to slumber, now peacefully.
The ocean quieted. Ternwhale was safe. Lyra kept the shell in the lighthouse, singing to it often — so the sea would always feel loved.
